Restart device driver

Restarting a device is here to reinitialize the driver if things don't work as expected.

It affects only the selected device and does not reinstall the actual driver.

For example, the Magic Trackpad may require a device restart to initialize smooth scrolling properly.

For example, the Magic Mouse may require a device restart to initialize smooth scrolling properly.

A restart can be performed automatically. From the Driver menu select:

Restart device driver on wake up

Restarts the driver for the selected device when the computer wakes up from sleep or hibernation.

Reinstall device driver

A driver reinstallation first uninstalls the current driver instance for each Magic Keyboard.

A driver reinstallation first uninstalls the current driver instance for each Magic Mouse.

A driver reinstallation first uninstalls the current driver instance for each Magic Trackpad.

Then installs and assigns the driver again. This usually fixes all sorts of issues which can occur with Bluetooth connections. In some cases USB connections can be fixed as well.

A reinstall can be performed automatically. From the Driver menu select:

Reinstall device driver on wake up

Reinstalls the driver for each Magic Keyboard when the computer wakes up from sleep or hibernation.

Reinstalls the driver for each Magic Mouse when the computer wakes up from sleep or hibernation.

Reinstalls the driver for each Magic Trackpad when the computer wakes up from sleep or hibernation.
